Ardith Williams Harper

10 percent of goal achieved.

Ardith Williams Harper was brave and determined throughout her life, even to the end. She battled Parkinson's disease since her diagnosis around 1993. She took the struggle in stride and provided as much normalcy for her loved ones as she could during her battle. Most recently, she completed a four year academic study of an experimental drug treatment for Parkinson's which has just been approved by the FDA. In her particular study group, she was the only patient who persevered through all of the discomfort to completely finish the study. Through this, one of her last accomplishments, my grandmother has helped pave the way for thousands of people to take back years of quality life from a vicious disease. As her family we would like to invite you to join Ardith in making sure that many more people take back years of their own lives.

More about Ardith~
Ardith Williams Harper was the mother of five, a bank executive and savvy business woman, a lover of children, a Sunday school teacher, a pastor's wife, and a counselor/mentor to all. She had a generous soul and kind heart. She was accomplished in her professional life. After marrying and starting her family, she went back to school, eventually becoming an LSU graduate through correspondence courses. She was excellent at her job, and treated others in a manner that earned her universal respect. Once, after being asked what she would need to establish a trust department at the bank, she was turned loose to create the department from the ground up. After she left, experts in the field said hers was the most smoothly-run trust department they had ever encountered.

She was dedicated to her family. Over the course of her life, Ardith delivered one of her own babies herself and helped deliver of her grandchildren. In the grandchild's delivery, her quick thinking even addressed a minor complication which threatened the baby's well-being. She was always thinking of her children and grandchildren. Her main hobby for many years was showering her grandchildren with Christmas presents. She would shop sales all year, laying things aside throughout the year. Christmas, and the delight of the little ones, was one of the life joys she lived for everyday of the year.

She was a proud woman. Her main source of pride was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She always wished a rich, full life for all of them. She always encouraged them to complete their education. I think all of her grandchildren will agree that she was there for us and would move heaven and earth to get anything she thought we needed (and many things we just wanted).
