Moving Day News
Saturday, June 3rd, was a day
to remember. The DMV communities joined together at the National Monument at
Sylvan Theater to “MOVE” for the third annual Moving Day DC. Our community was
represented by 78 teams and both of our Centers of Excellence Johns Hopkins and
Georgetown University Hospital and over 1,000 participants.
We are pleased to report that
over $190,000 has been raised to help to improve the quality of care for people
with Parkinson's disease through research, education and outreach. You still
have until June 30th to raise funds to qualify for incentive
prizes. Event day donations will be uploaded to the website
Photos will be posted here
soon! If you have photos of your own please post them to our Facebook at National Parkinson Foundation DC Metro Area
Everyone got moving with WERQ,
JCCGW Rockville, Rock Steady Boxing Rockville, and Tai Chi in the Movement
Pavilion and continued on to our 1 mile or 3 mile walk. It didn’t stop there!
People continued to “MOVE” throughout the morning while gathering
information on local programs and services from our Resource Pavilion.
This great day would not have
been possible without the work of our committee, teams, volunteers,
instructors, local partners, and Sponsors: Bloomberg Philanthropies, Sunovion
Pharmaceuticals, NeuroDerm, INOVA Health Systems, Lundbeck, Right at Home, UCB,
AbbVie, Target, Home Depot, Wegman’s, BJ’s, Walmart, and Giant Foods.
Many thanks to our Top
