Welcome to our Virtual Moving Day Team Page!
As you likely know, I started working for the Parkinson's Foundation this past January. I took the position in part because I know that the Parkinson's Foundation is doing important work in a caring and effective manner. However I was also drawn to it because I (and likely you!) have a family connection to this disease. Grandpa Don (Donald Orner) lived for many years with Parkinson's before he passed in 2012. Those who knew him are intimately aware of his joyful whimsy, dedication to exercise, and ever-present cigars. I started this Moving Day Team in his honor. I hope you will join me in helping to make life better for people with Parkinson's disease, and improving research to find a cure.
In my new position I oversee our Moving Day Walk event. Moving Day Twin Cities is the largest Parkinson's Walk in the nation, and usually hosts 4000+ people. With the onset of Covid-19 we quickly pivoted to a virtual event. For many of us, our daily lives are looking a bit different, and our priorities have shifted. However, Parkinson's disease has not gone away, and the Parkinson's community is at particularly high health risk. We are all working hard to continue providing as many resources as possible to support the Parkinson's Community.
Please join me on May 9th at Noon CST (10am PST) at MovingDayWalk.org to watch and engage with the Virtual Event we have been working diligently to create over the last couple of months. It will be around 1.5hrs long and will be filled with exercise demonstrations, inspiring stories, and powerful messaging. By joining Team Don you are showing your support for the Parkinson's Community. In addition, if you feel able, please consider donating to the cause, or asking others around you to donate. Even $5 can make a difference.
Thank you for your support!
