Welcome to My Personal Page
I am participating in Moving Day(R) Twin Cities, benefiting the Parkinson's Foundation.
The event will be a fun-filled, family-friendly event for all ages and abilities. We will be able to enjoy a variety of movement activities like yoga, dance, Pilates, Tai Chi, boxing, stretching and much more and celebrate the importance of movement in our lives.
Please consider being a part of my team or sponsoring me, and I encourage you to get your friends, family and coworkers involved.
Why Move for Moving Day?
Nearly 18 years ago, my Dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's at the age of 51. He had always been super active, a hard worker and loved spending time tinkering on many things around our hobby farm. In the summer of 2002, he could tell that something wasn't right. That fall, we found out that the symptoms he was experiencing were signs of Parkinson's disease.
With the new diagnosis, we were shocked and unsure of what the future would hold. My Dad enrolled in clinical trials, had many doctor's appointments and new meds prescribed. We began to see the symptoms progress and in the spring of 2010, he had Deep Brain Stimulation surgery at Mayo Clinic. It was scary, but it was the next best step.
Now, 10 years after DBS, we are so grateful. My Dad has been able to still tinker outside, laugh and play with his six grandchildren and help support others with Parkinson's disease. We are so thankful.
