Help me FIGHT PARKINSON'S!
Did you know that the most dangerous thing for people with Parkinson's Disease is isolation?
We are ALL suffering amidst the Coronavirus crisis. But, people with Parkinson's Disease are facing challenges that I would imagine most other people have never had to consider. Parkinson's is a neurological disorder that can attack virtually every area of a person's ability to function - physically & mentally. The ONE thing that is scientifically proven to give them back the control they are losing is "forced intense exercise" - in the form of non-contact Boxing, in a group setting - where peer support & camaraderie spark the desire to FIGHT BACK! In other words: Rock Steady Boxing. That's what I do - I'm the Owner and Head Coach of Rock Steady Boxing VC/LA [Ventura County/Los Angeles]. I teach people with Parkinson's Disease how to FIGHT BACK against all odds - to give them control over debilitating symptoms so they can live a life with purpose and HOPE.
The Parkinson's Foundation supports programs like mine.
75% of the annual funds needed to keep the Parkinson's Foundation afloat come from their yearly Moving Day 5K Walk. As of today, 28 of those events have been cancelled in the face of the Coronavirus.
Parkinson's cases are ON THE RISE - another American is diagnosed every 9 seconds.
NOW, more than ever, it is crtical that we help the Parkinson's Foundation in their efforts to keep the Parkinson's community CONNECTED & MOVING during this international crisis.
Gyms are closed and Parkinson's patients are stuck at home, but we can HELP THEM with online virtual classes and services that can deliver desperately needed resources to their front door. These efforts require funds. We need donations from our community.
I have spent the past 6 days "training" many people in the Parkinson's community on how to create online accounts, log onto platforms such as Zoom and get up and running on social media so we can keep them active & engaged - not lonely and isolated. I am in partnership with the Parkinson's Foundation to continue these efforts until this crisis has passed.
We need your help. We need donations. We understand there is A LOT that people are dealing with right now, but every little dollar counts, so even if its' just $20.00, please give what you can. While I realize now I will not be able to beat the $13,000 my team raised last year, I am still dedicated to try everything in my power to get us to $5,000 - with YOUR help.
I miss my Rock Steady Boxers like crazy. They are my family. To see how hard they work and fight inspires me everyday to do everything in my power to make sure they continue thriving. Thank you for helping me help them.
