Moving Day DFW

Team Gratitude

Welcome to our Moving Day® Team Page!  We are TEAM GRATITUDE

Why do we support this organization?

It's personal for me. I was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2010. You can hear the story about my diagnosis at this link:

Ceil and I are supporting the Parkinson's Foundation, which is funding the cutting-edge research to find a cure AND which is working to make the lives of people with Parkinson's better today. I have seen the good that this organization does in local communities over the past three years. It is helping local groups organize to make services (like exercise and voice and physical therapy) become available to more people with Parkinson's. This work is important since many people with Parkinson's may not have access to all these services today in their local communities. See the following link where I describe some of the DFW organizations that have benefited from the start-up funding provided by the Parkinson's Foundation:

Why did we change our team name to Team Gratitude last year? See

HOW YOU CAN HELP US NOW: Our biggest and most immediate need is to spread the news about the event, so please visit and share the MovingDayDFW home page ( ) and the Team Gratitude page ( ) with everyone you know, especially anyone directly or indirectly affected by the disease.

MovingDay is the signature nationwide fundraising event of the foundation and this year's local edition (MovingDayDFW) will be held on October 5, 2019 at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas. MovingDayDFW is more than a fundraising event, it is a fun, inspiring day that unites families, friends and communities large and small in the fight against Parkinson's disease. PD is an isolating disease and social activity for PD patients is vital to battle the depression and feelings that occur in many people with Parkinson's. Information about community resources, other fun activities and opportunities to meet others battling PD will be available at the event.

Please also consider joining us in attending MovingDayDFW. Ceil and I and the rest of our family needs help to defend our 2018 title as "Most Spirited Team." The more people that attend with us, the better our chances will be. If you are not living in the DFW area, October is quite possibly the best time to visit here! The weather turns pleasant, everyone gets involved with outdoor activities, and the State Fair of Texas is open! In addition to MovingDayDFW, the fair is something you must see for yourself. The week leading up to the annual epic Oklahoma-Texas football game at the fair begins the day after MovingDayDFW. The fans from both teams will start filling the city and celebrating early in the days leading up to the game at the Cotton Bowl in the middle of the State Fair grounds on October 12. There’s plenty to do in the Metroplex. We would be thrilled for y'all to come down and help us! Whatever you do will be appreciated.
