Welcome to our Moving Day® Team, Brian's Best!
Father and friend to many, Brian Longtin, was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2013. Parkinson's is a disease that slowly damages the central nervous system and affects the dopamine-producing neurons in the brain. For some, the disease and symptoms escalate over a number of years, but Brian escalated at a rapid rate, especially after his son, Caleb Longtin, passed away November 2015.
Although Brian did not die directly from Parkinson’s, it affected his life and everyday function significantly. Brian was a go-getter and to see him lose bodily functions over a short period of time was hard to watch. He was put on so many medications and the side effects were abundant.
Brian passed away December 10, 2017 after going into cardiac arrest due to an enlarged heart. He is missed tremendously, but will never be forgotten. On October 19th, we will walk to remember Brian and the thousands that are currently suffering from Parkinson's.
In the United States, 50,000-60,000 new cases of Parkinson’s disease (PD) are diagnosed each year, adding to the one million people who currently have PD.
Join our team for the local Parkinson’s Foundation Moving Day walk, the first nationwide grassroots campaign that spotlights the disease on a national level and gives the chance to raise awareness and funds in our own community. Your support will help us continue improving the quality of care for those living with Parkinson’s disease.
