Moving Day Chicago

Ten for Ken

My dad, Ken, was diagnosed with Parkinson's 10 years ago, a debilitating disease that impacts over 10 million people worldwide. Dad, in typical fashion, decided however to approach his illness with a unique perspective. For him, Parkinson's would not be a life-sentence. Parkinson's would be a life-style.

He completed three Caminos (Camino Frances, Camino Finisterre, and Camino Portuguese), across three years from 2011 to 2015, walking a total of 750 miles.

With this in mind, I think the least I could do to raise awareness for this illness is to complete a few laps around Solider Field, Chicago IL, as part of the Parkinson’s Foundation 2019 Moving Day, on October 6.

So on the 10th anniversary of my Dad’s diagnosis, I’m asking people to donate $10 (or more if they are feeling generous!) to my personal Moving Day page. I’m calling it “Ten for Ken."

Originally I thought we could raise $500, but seeing as we met that goal in 3 days, I thought to up it a little further to $1,500!!

Why Move for Moving Day?

Did you know that someone is diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease every 9 minutes in the United States? No one should have to face Parkinson’s alone. That is why the Parkinson's Foundation provides a community of support to give people the resources and help they need to live well with Parkinson’s.

Support our mission to help every person diagnosed with Parkinson's live their best possible life now. Your gift will help us fund better research, better treatment and better lives.
