As some of you might know I am the true defintion of "Daddy's little girl" even at the age of 33:) So when my Father was diagnosed with Parkinson's 2 years ago, my heart ached. However, since then he has completely changed his life around. He has lost 50lbs and has made exercise part of his lifestyle. I never thought we would have "dates" at the gym. I could not be more proud of him.
In honor of him, I am participating in the Moving Day Walk, benefiting the Parkinson Foundation of the National Capital Area on Nov. 10, 2013.
The event will take place at the Nationals Park and will be a fun-filled, family-friendly event for all ages and abilities. We will be able to enjoy a variety of movement activities yoga, dance, Pilates, Tai Chi, stretching and much more and celebrate the importance of movement in our lives.
Please consider being a part of my team or sponsoring me, and I encourage you to get your friends, family and coworkers involved.
Why Get Involved?
The mission of the Parkinson Foundation of the National Capital Area (PFNCA) is to improve the quality of life for people living with Parkinson's disease, their care-partners and families within the National Capital Area.
PFNCA assists those affected by Parkinson's disease by providing resources, information and support, including:
- Advancing public knowledge of Parkinson's disease
- Support & education programs for patients and their families
- More than 65 exercise, dance, yoga, choir, aerobics and communications classes every month.
30,000 people in the National Capital Area live with Parkinson's disease. This is more than ALS, MS and Muscular Dystrophy combined. We make a difference in their lives and in the lives of their loved ones. Help us to help so many more. PFNCA is a chapter of the National Parkinson Foundation which since 1982 has funded more than $172 million in care, research and support services.
Thank you for helping me reach my fundraising goal to support the vital work of the Parkinson Foundation of the National Capital Area and the National Parkinson Foundation.
