Dear Family and Friends,
Are you looking for something fun to do that will make a difference in someone’s life? Why not join us on Sunday, November 10th at 8:30 AM for the National Parkinson Foundation Moving Day walk at the Nationals Park. We have formed a team called Team Jimbo in honor of my dad, Jim Anderson, who was diagnosed with Parkinsons in 2010.
Parkinsons is a debilitating disease and knows no boundaries when it strikes the innocent. The disease attacks the central nervous system and makes things such as simple movement, balance, walking, dressing, swallowing, talking, and thinking a challenge. It places a defying grip on those it attacks as it progressively disfigures and transforms their life. Sadly, there is no cure.
For those who personally know Jim, you are truly blessed! His smile and effort to battle this is astonishing and relentless. Jim is humble and never utters a complaint and has not once mumbled “Why Me?” His medications consist of 26 pills taken throughout the day to control fatigue, rigidity, and limbs that don’t want to move. When asked how he is doing, Jim’s response is always “I’m SUPER”. His spirit, generosity, and compassion for others is without boundaries. His fight is far from over.
Moving Day is a celebration of movement with a gentle 2-mile walk at Nationals Park. Please consider joining Team Jimbo and come out to support this noteworthy event for all ages (bring the kids). In addition to getting exercise and having fun, you will be helping to raise money for the Parkinson Foundation of the National Capital area. Team Jimbo’s fundraising goal is $8,000. Let’s show Jim just how SUPER his is. With your support, we can help the foundation’s mission to improve the quality of care for those stricken with Parkinsons through research, education, and outreach.
No matter what you can afford, every dollar counts! To make a donation online now or to participate and join Team Jimbo, please visit http://www3.parkinson.org/site/TR/MovingDayEvent/ParkinsonFoundationoftheNationalCapitalArea?team_id=10561&pg=team&fr_id=1430. If you prefer to mail a check, please make it out to Parkinson’s Foundation of the National Capital Area, include Team Jimbo in the reference field and mail it to 7700 Leesburg Pike, Suite 208, Falls Church, VA 22043.
