Welcome to My Fight Against Parkinson's
Please join me in the fight against Parkinson's
I have said it before and I will say it many more times.......Parkinson’s just basically sucks.
It eventually changes everything.
My father fights this disease daily. He amazes me with his strength and the determination he has shown in his battle with Parkinson’s. He doesn’t give up!
Last year he gave me a very precious gift, one I am extremely blessed to have received, and one he has continually given me throughout my entire life. The gift of Love.
Last year he was in the hospital for several months, when he moved to rehab they wanted to know his goal, he said to walk me down the aisle. They practiced daily, at night we would walk the nurses station and “dance” to Taylor Swift or Frank Sinatra. It wasn’t easy for him and most wouldn’t call it dancing, but we did and it made us smile. He knew the beat and could walk a little stronger when it was playing. Music has always been important to his movement over the years with Parkinson’s.
My dad’s determination and stubbornness is what made Dan and I’s wedding day magical; not only did he walk me down the aisle that day, but also was able to dance the father daughter dance and then with my mother for a special anniversary dance. He blew everyone away that day. We were amazed and grateful that that day was a good day. Not everyday is a good day and as the disease progresses we see less and less of them. We cherish the good days we get and we are there for him during the harder days, just as he always has done for us everyday of our life!
This is why I walk, this is why I ask for your support.
Please consider joining me by either donating, any amount helps, or walking with Dan and I on Moving Day, Sunday, September 29th.
