We move because we are blessed to be able to move, we move because it is fun, and we move to raise funds to fight Parkinson's Disease. Our logo shows just a few of the ways some of our family members move, Tai Chi, hiking, volleyball and pilates. We also garden, walk, rock climb, yoga and participate in paint ball battles.
My family has been impacted by Parkinson's Disease, as have over one million other families in the USA. My Mother, Althea Mosher was diagnosed in her early sixties as was the case for her Mother ( Helen Gillmeister). Luckliy the treatments were more effective in 1990 then they had been in the early seventies. My Mother sought out information and help as she valiently fought her PD. The National Parkinson Foundation was there to help, with the "rainbow books" which became her Bible in finding current information and strategy to the support group in West Seneca which became a second family. My Mother's death did not stop our involvement with the local chapter. I became Chapter Treasurer in 2010 and chaired the first Moving Day in 2012. My Father often told us the story of the farmer who taught him that the reason God put us on this earth is to help others. Our participation in Moving Day is one way that we can help repay the many who reached out to help my Mother and our family as we went through a twenty year battle with PD.
You can help! We would love to have you join with us and be part of our fundraising team.
You can walk with us, move at the Movement Pavilion or send a donation. National Parkinson Foundation and the Western New York Chapter will use the funds to help families like ours.
Moving Day is taking place on Sunday Sept. 7th, first thing in the morning! Registration starts at 8:30 am, the walk will start at 10:00 am. For the third year the Buffalo Bison's are graciously hosting us at Coca Cola Field, the walk starts at the Exchange St. side of the Stadium. We have some awesome improvements planned for this year, along with old favorites ( like Paula's Doughnuts!).
It is only a little over three months until we line up under the balloon arch and take to the streets of downtown Buffalo. Please consider making a generous gift today.
Thank-you from the bottom of my heart!
