The KY Parkies are getting together again...this time we are walking for Parkinson's. However instead of walking in Kentucky, Nancy and I are kind of going home. We are going to take part in the Moving Day Buffalo walk, benefiting the National Parkinson Foundation Western New York Chapter on Sunday, September 7th, 2014.
I realize many of our original Parkies will not be able to join us in Buffalo, but you will be there in spirit, just as you have been there for us over the years.I hope to recruit some family and friends in NY to walk with us in Buffalo.
As most of you know, I was diagnosed about 18 months ago. While it has been challenging, it has also been rewarding. I am now home every evening as travel has become a chore. For those that know me and my travel habits over the last 25 or so years, you can only imagine what a change it is not to be running to an airport someplace. I am still able to work my 10 - 12 hours every day, but now it is in the office. I am lucky enough to have Nancy to keep me grounded and in line. Difficult at best on a normal day...much more difficult on a Parkie day....who knew I was so stubborn!
The event will take place at Coca-Cola Field and will be a fun-filled, family-friendly event for all ages and abilities. We will be able to enjoy a variety of movement activities yoga, dance, Pilates, Tai Chi, stretching and much more and celebrate the importance of movement in our lives.
Please consider being a part of our team or sponsoring us, and I encourage you to get your friends, family and coworkers involved.
Why Get Involved
The National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) continues to bring help and hope to the estimated one million people in the United States, four to six million worldwide, who are living with Parkinson’s disease. NPF is the only organization with a singular focus on improving the quality of care in Parkinson’s disease. NPF programs reach more than one million people a year through its network of 39 chapters, 43 Centers of Excellence and 900 support groups. Since 1982, NPF has funded more than $180 million in care, research and support services.
Thank you for helping me reach my fundraising goal to support the vital work of the National Parkinson Foundation.
