Last year my team raised $1275 for the National Parkinson's Foundation. I'm hoping with the help of family and friends we can beat that by raising $1500. What is really exciting about this year’s Moving Day Walk is that all the grandkids will be there supporting their Pop, Tom Merchberger!
As most of you may know my father has been fighting this horrible disease for the past 11 years. The disease has been a life changing experience for not only Dad, but our whole family. I have learned through watching my father that Parkinson's disease weakens your body and your mind. Watching him over the years has been the hardest part. Knowing that he so badly wants to move around and live life with his grandkids, but the disease is robbing him of this is just heart breaking. Throughout all of this, my mother has been an amazing caretaker! The unconditional love and care she has shown and continues to show Dad is a true example of "for better or worse." I admire you Mom! I pray every night that a cure for this horrific disease is discovered!
I am participating in the Boca Raton Moving Day Walk, in honor of my father, Thomas Merchberger, and in memory of my grandfather, Richard Hulbert, benefiting the National Parkinson Foundation South Palm Beach County Chapter on Nov. 10, 2013.
The event will take place at FAU Stadium and will be a fun-filled, family-friendly event for all ages and abilities. We will be able to enjoy a variety of movement activities; yoga, dance, Pilates, Tai Chi, stretching and much more and celebrate the importance of movement in our lives.
Please consider being a part of my team or sponsoring me, and I encourage you to get your friends, family and coworkers involved.
People who move change the world!
The National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) continues to bring help and hope to the estimated one million people in the United States, four to six million worldwide, who are living with Parkinson’s disease. NPF is the only organization with a singular focus on improving the quality of care in Parkinson’s disease. NPF programs reach more than one million people a year through its network of 39 chapters, 43 Centers of Excellence and 900 support groups. Since 1982, NPF has funded more than $172 million in care, research and support services.
