I am participating in the Moving Day Kansas City walk, benefiting the National Parkinson Foundation Heartland, on June 14, 2014.
The event will take place at the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial and will be a fun-filled, family-friendly event for all ages and abilities. A short walk route is available for all fitness levels (and is stroller- & wheelchair-friendly). We will be able to enjoy a variety of movement activities such as seated exercise, dance, the Parkinson's Experience and much more as well as celebrate the importance of movement in our lives.
Please consider being a part of my team or sponsoring me, and I encourage you to get your friends, family and coworkers involved.
Once again, we are so happy to be Dancing for Dorothy, along with the National Parkinson's Foundation Heartland. Our mom Dorothy has been battling with Parkinson's for many years now, and although she has made many strides over the years, it is a continuous battle that she is faced with every day. We will be walking in honor of her at the Heartland Moving Day Walk for Parkinson's on June 14. Any donations toward this excellent cause are much appreciated, and for any local friends and family, please consider joining us for the walk. This year it is at the Liberty Memorial, so a central location in the city will be a nice change, not to mention a beautiful view!
Awareness about Parkinson's is always my goal, and to help my mom understand we are all out to support her in her fight.
THANK YOU TO ALL in advance who will be hearing from me over the next two months to encourage your participation and to learn a little bit more about mom's day-to-day life. Last year I posted several experiences that she has been faced with, to help everyone understand a little bit more about what it is like to live with this disease, and I will continue to do that this year (on Facebook). Thanks for indulging me. and as always, I hope you will learn a little bit more about what life is like with Parkinson's. I realize not everyone is on Facebook, so I will be sending out emails as well, to remind you that we are walking as a team in June.
The National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) continues to bring help and hope to the estimated one million people in the United States, four to six million worldwide, who are living with Parkinson’s disease. NPF is the only organization with a singular focus on improving the quality of care in Parkinson’s disease. NPF programs reach more than one million people a year through its network of 39 chapters, 43 Centers of Excellence and 900 support groups. Since 1982, NPF has funded more than $180 million in care, research and support services.
Thank you for helping me reach my fundraising goal to support the vital work of the National Parkinson Foundation Heartland.
And thank you to all previous donor's and walk participants. Mom loves the support!
Much love to all!
