Why Get Involved
The National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) continues to bring help and hope to the estimated one million people in the United States, four to six million worldwide, who are living with Parkinson’s disease. NPF is the only organization with a singular focus on improving the quality of care in Parkinson’s disease. NPF programs reach more than one million people a year through its network of 39 chapters, 43 Centers of Excellence and 900 support groups. Since 1982, NPF has funded more than $180 million in care, research and support services.
Thank you for helping me reach my fundraising goal to support the vital work of the National Parkinson Foundation.
I was diagnosed with PD three years ago. My reaction when hearing those words, the same reaction as hearing lymphoma, was blank, blank not me. I began reading all I could, taking the computer to bed. But that made me crazy. PD, like other diseases, affects everyone differently. I beat lymphoma but PD has no cure and is chronic. So I recalled what my cute little lady dr. said to me on my first visit.....that PD is the best diagnosis she could give and my answer was "OK, I'll take it. My mode of operation is this...i take my meds (so she gave me a "loving lecture" last visit), I exercise and MOVE (so I could do more and I will), I should do better with voice exercises (and I will Bill), and I'm giving life hell...knowing full well PD will catcch up with me one day. For now, i'm happier than i've been in years....thanks to all the special peoplle in my life.....like you. I'm hoping you'll join me on Moving Day.
