About a year ago my father was diagnosed with early onset parkisons disease. It was at this time I found myself saddend, confused, and utterly frustrated with the diagnosis. After constant work and success with the amazing team at Northwestern University and those involved in the Michael J Fox Foundation, I now find my emotions have shifted. I am proud to be a support system for someone affected with Parkinsons, and vow to continually contribute to the efforts towards finding a cure.
Since his diagnosis, my father has been enrolled in the Parkinsons Progression Marker Initiative in an effort to help expedite research and knowledge towards a cure. I hope that through the continual support of my family, friends, and community we can put forth efforts to increase awareness of this disease.
I am participating in the Moving Day Chicago Walk, benefiting the National Parkinson Foundation on October 20th, 2013. I will be walking in honor of my incredible dad as a part of the Martini Shakers Team.
The event will take place at the Grove 2 at Lincoln Park and will be a fun-filled, family friendly event for all ages and abilities. We will be able to enjoy a variety of movement activities to celebrate the importance of movement in our lives.
Please consider being a part of my team, or sponsoring me. I encourage you to get your friends, family and coworkers involved. Donations can be made by following the links on the Moving Day Homepage.
Thank you for your support to my father and my family.
