I have been battling Parkinson's for almost a decade. My husband was also diagnosed with Parkinson's a few years afterwards.
After participating in several programs, I founded the Glen Carbon Parkinson Support Group in Glen Carbon,Il. Our group of approximately 25 members meets monthly. We learn, listen, laugh and support each other. The goal is to have an uplifting and informative environment for those who have Parkinson's and their caretakers.
This spring, I participated in the Naples Parkinson walk with my daughter, Kathi I walked this summer in the Glen Carbon Homecoming's Run/Walk with my granddaughter and received a medal as pictured above. I plan to walk with my son, John, in Miami on Team Kozyak & Reno. Janet Reno was one of the first people who offered to help me after she found out I also had PD and I can’t wait to meet her at Moving Day Miami on October 6th, 2013.
I am proud to be 85 years old and still working to stay young and help others!
I am prepared to do “Whatever it Takes to Beat Parkinson’s” as they
promise at the NPF.
Moving Day Miami will take place at Bayfront Park and will be a fun-filled, family-friendly event for all ages and abilities. We will be able to enjoy a variety of movement activities yoga, dance, Pilates, Tai Chi, stretching and much more and celebrate the importance of movement in our lives.
Why Get Involved
The National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) continues to bring help and hope to the estimated one million people in the United States, four to six million worldwide, who are living with Parkinson’s disease. NPF is the only organization with a singular focus on improving the quality of care in Parkinson’s disease. NPF programs reach more than one million people a year through its network of 39 chapters, 43 Centers of Excellence and 900 support groups. Since 1982, NPF has funded more than $172 million in care, research and support services.
Thank you for helping me reach my fundraising goal to support the vital work of the National Parkinson Foundation.
