When I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease (PD) 11 years ago at the age of 47, I had no idea that I would one day consider it a blessing. I've met some amazing people in the Parkinson's community: those with PD, who are a continual source of encouragement and support; the researchers, doctors, nurses, clinicians, etc. who I've met at appointments, clinical trials; and the web of people I've met at PD-related events such as symposia, online webinars, and WALKS (e.g., Moving Day)!
PD People connected to other PD People is certainly important. But we also need YOU! The understanding and support of our family, friends and community around us is crucial to really making a difference as we fignt to cope today, discover better treatments, and ultimately find the cause and cure of Parkinson's.
