Hippy Hippy Shake

Welcome to our Moving Day® Team Page!

Team Hippy Hippy Shake will once again walk "The Mall" in Washington, DC on Saturday, June 3rd, 2017 to help raise not just funds but, awareness for this terrible, life threatening disease.

Friends, I want to tell you from personal experience that Parkinson's affects each individual differently. I seem to have a relatively slow progression , though, it's difficult to judge being on the best and most recent medications available. Believe me, when my meds are off or I'm overly stressed , it's frightening to see the effects on my body. With stress , the symptoms worsen and break through the meds leaving me with tremors ; my hands become useless, I have difficulty with balance and massive migraines, as well as many other not so fun reactions.

I have many friends who are not so fortunate. Many have a much more rapid progression. After being diagnosed just months prior, they have been unable to continue working and many have difficulty just caring for their most basic needs. It's a horrifying thing to watch as meaningful, productive and enjoyable lives are stolen from them.

In the United States, 50,000-60,000 new cases of Parkinson's disease (PD) are diagnosed each year, adding to the one million people who currently have PD.

Please join our team for the local National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) Moving Day® walk, the first nationwide grassroots campaign that spotlights the disease on a national level and gives the chance to raise awareness and funds in our own community. Your support will help NPF continue improving the quality of care for those living with Parkinson's disease.
