Carolyn's Cruisers

Welcome to "Carolyn's Cruisers" Moving Day® Team Page!

In the United States, 50,000-60,000 new cases of Parkinson's disease (PD) are diagnosed each year, adding to the one million people who currently have PD.  This is our 2nd year participating in the NPF Moving Day.  Last year we were the #1 team raising over $6,000!!!  We hope to do the same again this year.

We walk for our sister Carolyn (Deagon) Gloudemans who was diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease 2 years ago and she is bravely fighting the fight.  When we signed up for our first walk last year, Carolyn wanted to participate and walk the entire 5K.  So she started walking with her sister Anne.  In the beginning, Carolyn could barely complete 1/4 of a mile, but with each day, Anne and Carolyn walked further and further never waivering and always keeping their goal in sight.  Carolyn's brothers (all six of them) promised to carry Carolyn acrossed the finish line if she couldn't finish.  Well, Carolyn did it!  She walked the entire 5K last year and we will be doing it again this year.

Carolyn is a constant reminder of what strength and courage is all about.   Carolyn is not only fighting Parkinson's disease, but also Cancer.  She was diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma in 2004.  After intensive chemo treatments, a Stem Cell Transplant (2005) and a Bone Marrow Transplant (2007), Carolyn is celebrating 10 years of beign Cancer Free this April!

Please join our team for the local National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) Moving Day® walk, the first nationwide grassroots campaign that spotlights the disease on a national level and gives the chance to raise awareness and funds in our own community. Your support will help NPF continue improving the quality of care for those living with Parkinson's disease.
