On April 1st, I will be participating in Moving Day® Tampa Bay, benefiting the National Parkinson Foundation, at the University of South Florida. Donations made to my walk will go directly to the National Parkinson Foundation to assist people that are diagnosed with Parkinson's disease live better lives, and fund better research, and more effective forms of treatment.
This cause is very dear to me because I have witnessed first hand the negative effects that this disease can have.
About 7 years ago, my Pop Pop was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. This disease has made moving and performing simple, everyday tasks like walking, driving, and standing up very challenging for him. Fortunately, he has made huge progress in combatting this disease through the help of good doctors, effective medication, physical therapy, and lots of love and support from his family. However, this has only delayed the worst symptoms of Parkinson's, not completely erased them, and they continue to develop more each day. I want to help change that.
Please consider being a part of my team or sponsoring me, and I encourage you to get your friends, family and coworkers involved.
Another harsh reality of those living with Parkinson's, is that most individuals effected by this disease are seniors, many of which aren't financially able to get the important treatment that they need. Making a donation to my walk to support the National Parkinson Foundation is supporting a brighter future for individuals diagnosed, and their families. Every 9 minutes someone in the United States is diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, so LET'S MOVE!
The event will be a fun-filled, family-friendly event for all ages and abilities. We will be able to enjoy a variety of movement activities yoga, dance, Pilates, Tai Chi, boxing, stretching and much more and celebrate the importance of movement in our lives.
Thank you for helping me reach my fundraising goal to support the vital work of the National Parkinson Foundation.
