Forenote: It becomes more difficult to make a sincere looking smile as Parknison's Disease progresses because of lack of control of the facial muscles. I posted this relatively rare picture of me smiling, not to be egotistical, but because there was no better way to show how I feel about Moving Day.
I immediately signed up to captain the Rock the Park team for the third year as soon as I learned that the date had been set. Moving Day® NC Triangle benefiting the National Parkinson Foundation will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2017, at Koka Booth Amphitheatre, which is a bit earlier than previous years.
Moving Day involves a lot of "fun-raisng as well as fund-raising. The event will be a fun-filled, family-friendly event for all ages and abilities. We will be able to enjoy a variety of movement activities yoga, dance, Pilates, Tai Chi, boxing, stretching and much more and celebrate the importance of movement in our lives.
My family and I have had a blast participating in the four Moving Day events in the Research Triangle area, but especially the last three years that I have served as captain of the Rock the Park team. The team keeps growing. For the last two years, we had around 50 team members, making us one of largest teams. (See the picture of last year's team on my Team Page). I am amazed and grateful for everyone's support.
For past team members and those who otherwise supported the event, please come back. I want to see all of you again. The Sunday format will hopefully make the event available to those who couldn't make it on a Saturday.
If you have never been to Moving Day, I assure you it is an inspiring event I think you would enjoy being a part of Team Rock the Park. Your friends, family coworkers and pets are all welcomed. Thank you for helping me reach my fundraising goal to support the vital work of the National Parkinson Foundation.
