In memory of my mom, Elizabeth Herndon, and in honor of my brother-in-law, Randy Smith, I am participating with my sister, niece and other friends and family in Southern California in Moving Day® North LA County, benefiting the National Parkinson Foundation, on Saturday, April 29, 2017.
Our family team name, The Dapper Rainbows, has special meaning for us. Imagining a place "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" helped my mom through her darkest days before succumbing to cancer exacerbated by her long struggle with Parkinson's Disease, just a little over a year ago. My brother-in-law Randy has always been a dapper gentleman, and although his decades-long battle with Parkinson's has impacted the quality of many parts of his life, you can still count on him to always look handsome and polished!
The event, taking place at Valencia Heritage Park in Santa Clarita, CA, will be a fun-filled, family-friendly event for all ages and abilities. Our family will be able to enjoy a variety of movement activities: yoga, dance, Pilates, Tai Chi, boxing, stretching and much more and celebrate the importance of movement in our lives.
May I count on you to sponsor our family's efforts on this day to bring attention to Parkinson's Disease and important research, treatments and assistance to families such as ours? I appreciate your interest in helping me to reach my fundraising goal to support the vital work of the National Parkinson Foundation.
With love and gratitude,
