Join us to beat Parkinson’s disease in our community! Moving Day is the National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) Central & Southeast Ohio chapter’s annual fundraising walk for Parkinson’s. This event features a family-friendly walk route, music, and entertainment for people of all ages and abilities. In addition to a fundraising walk, Moving Day is celebration of movement with its very own Movement Pavilion. In 2012, our Movement Pavilion included Parkinson’s friendly activities such as exercises that can be done both standing and in a chair. We hope to add additional activities to continue emphasizing the important role that exercise plays in managing the symptoms of Parkinson’s.

We anticipate more than 500 participants for our second annual event. Invite your family and friends to “move” with us! Unite with healthcare professionals, corporate leaders, and corporate teams to raise funds in support of our chapter’s mission. It’s a day to move, a day to move others, a day that moves you!

To see what a great day we had in 2012, visit our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/NPFohio. If you were with us last September, and would like to share your photos or help identify participants on our Facebook page, please contact us at ddavis@centralohioparkinson.org.

To learn more about sponsorship and volunteer opportunities, please contact our Moving Day Chair Jerry Yarov at jerryyarov@centralohioparkinson.org. Hope to see you at The Crew Stadium on Sept. 29!

About US

It is estimated that 1 million people in the United States have Parkinson’s disease (PD) with about 50,000 – 60,000 new cases diagnosed nationally each year. The number of Ohioans with PD is estimated at 30,000 – 50,000.  For over 30 years, the National Parkinson Foundation Central & Southeast Ohio has been dedicated to providing support to individuals and families affected by PD in Central & Southeastern Ohio.  Our support group network throughout our region provides an opportunity for the PD community to learn more about the disease, share experiences, and support each other.  A variety of educational programs and resources are available to support groups and anyone requesting information to increase their knowledge of PD.  Free classes are offered that are designed to improve the day-to-day lives of people touched by PD.  Classes include speech therapy, Tai Chi, Alexander Technique and Delay the Disease exercise classes.
