About Moving Day

Moving Day® is a collaborative effort of the National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) and the National Parkinson Foundation Central Savannah River Area Chapter. It is a day of joining together and raising awareness of Parkinson’s disease. In addition to a fundraising walk, this is a celebration of movement, with a special Movement Pavilion featuring various types of exercise including yoga, dance, and much more. The pavilion will be open when registration begins, through the end of the walk. For those who prefer not to walk, there will plenty of wonderful activities, entertainment and information to enjoy.

Last Fall our inaugural Moving Day raised $37,500 and over 300 participants, including people with Parkinson’s disease, family, friends, co-workers, healthcare providers, corporate leaders and corporate teams, joined together to exercise while raising funds in support of the Foundation’s mission. It was an incredible day and we were thrilled to see the swell of support from the community.

Registration is now open for Moving Day Augusta, GA 2013. The committee is hard at work to make this year's event even better! If you are interested in volunteering please contact Kay Hays, Moving Day Fundraiser & Sponsors contact, at 803.593.6605 or at Khays65@comcast.net.

It is 'A day to move, a day to move others, a day that moves YOU!'

About the Chapter

It is estimated that 1 million people in the United States have Parkinson’s disease (PD) with about 50,000 – 60,000 new cases diagnosed nationally each year.  Based in Augusta, the National Parkinson Foundation Central Savannah River Area Chapter (CSRA Parkinson Support Group) has been dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by PD in counties in Georgia and South Carolina for over 20 years.  We reach out locally through our monthly meetings, lunch get-togethers, newsletter, health fairs and exercise programs.  We support PD research through the locally based Georgia Health Sciences University and through contributions to NPF.  We are a small, all-volunteer organization that is constantly seeking ways to better serve those affected by PD in our region.  We believe Moving Day® will be a great step in the right direction.
