About Moving Day

Moving Day® is the National Parkinson Foundation’s annual fundraising walk/run event. It is a fun and inspiring fundraising event that unites families, friends and communities both large and small in the fight against Parkinson’s disease. This celebration of movement will feature a family friendly walk course, a kids area, a caregivers relaxation tent and a special Movement Pavilion featuring yoga, dance, Tai Chi, Pilates, etc. all proven to help manage the symptoms of PD.

The inaugural Moving Day Chicago took place in October of 2012; raising over $230,000 it more than doubling its original fundraising goal of $100,000. Proceeds raised from the campaign help to improve the quality of care for people with Parkinson’s Disease through research, education and outreach. It was an incredible day welcoming over 1,200 people who joined in the fun and festivities with their friends and family. The support gained in this inaugural event from the Chicago community was overwhelming and the committee is already hard at work to make this year’s event, on October 20, even better!

Moving Day® raises awareness of Parkinson’s both nationally and in the Chicago community. It is 'A day to move, a day to move others, a day that moves YOU!'
