Father’s Day is this Sunday, June 18. In honor of all dads, we want to introduce you to Robert, Skyler and Tom. Their stories are what inspire us to work to make life better for the 1 million people in the U.S. fighting Parkinson’s every day.
When Robert walked his daughter down the aisle at her wedding it was a moment he hadn’t imagined possible after living with PD for three years. Immediately following Robert’s diagnosis, he started writing. He turned his blog into a book, giving a voice to his Parkinson’s and sharing his belief that, “each of us is in control of this experience we call life,” he wrote. Meet Robert.
At 12, Skyler couldn’t figure out why his dad was slowing down. Now, at 25, Skyler is helping take care of his father. “The happy and good times sure beat the bad, but nothing will ever get in the way of making new memories together and holding on to the best ones he gave me as a child,” Skyler said. Meet Skyler.
When Tom was told he had to undergo surgery to remove part of his lung, the first question he asked was how long did he have to wait to return to his boxing classes. His Aware in Care hospitalization kit allowed him to get his medications on time while in the hospital, allowing him to return to the punching bag as soon as possible. Meet Tom.
